My recent work Fantasia for Four Hands, after Jacques-Louis David and Franz Schubert will be on display at the Susquehanna Art Museum until September 20th, 2020. The exhibition explores the relationship between music and the visual arts. My work in this show combines the arts of quilting and oil painting, and was inspired by Franz Schubert's "Fantasia in F Minor," for piano, four-hands. This piece is a copy after David's portrait of husband and wife, Antoine Lavoisier and Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier. The idea of the duet played on one instrument reminded me of the intellectual collaboration between the Lavoisiers, and also the way in which working after an historical artist is a sort of duet in itself.
